Antique Leather armchair Embossed logo of a boat early 19tn century as far as I’m aware unable to cheak for manufacturing stamps due to collecting Saturday Planning on reviving the back , traditionally replacing the leather on inside arms and seat to match back ( trying not do de value this item or to add value back into it ) advice would be great and I’m exited for a valuation possibly would sell as is or panels replaced thank you
Buying from seller who claims it’s from Victorian Manor House
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be an early 20th century, approx. 1910-1930s, leather armchair with an embossed stylized caravel-type ship surrounded by lines and knots in the manner of art nouveau or arts and crafts movement, with oak armrests. Currently I would see only a very low value, due to the damages. I assume you will find it very difficult to find leather of the right colour, and the patination might be difficult as well. And the back leather might be more brittle than it is visible to the eye. There might be more time to invest than planned. A good leather glue I could recommend is Kövulfix ( just in case). The estimate is based on similar sold at auction. The low value would be the current value, the high estimate if restored.
Thank you , you have saved me quite a lot of time and money ! Would this still be classed an antique
