Hello Linda,
Thank you for your appraisal inquiry with Mearto. I apologize for the delay in your appraisal and thank you for your patience. The item presented appears to be small carving depicting Hotei or Laughing Buddha. It appears the figure is carved of stone. However, jade will need to be tested by a geologist to confirm. The lighter the jade, the more valuable it may be.
The estimate provided is based on recent auction estimates and results of comparable Hotei jade carvings in a similar dimension. The estimate is contingent on the material identification. Please note asking or dealer prices may vary. Thank you and please take care.
Hi Linda,

Once a certain type and quality of jade is determined (there are many types of jade), the estimate may be effected. The estimate provided is a baseline estimation for general jade objects, similar to yours.
When you submitted the item, you were asked if you wanted to sell the item. If you selected "Yes" or "Maybe," the item was placed in a database that is accessed by auction houses. If an auction house expresses interest, they will contact you. You can find out more from our Consignment page (https://mearto.com/consign).
I am 99% certain this is jade. Is their a geologist in S.F. CA that could examine it. If it is jade would it be worth more? I am interested in selling it. Any help or direction you can give is greatly appreciated. Linda riley
