Hand Signed, The bowl- is in excellent condition with two small scratches (.5cm or less) on the surface of the bowl, but I cannot tell if that is from damage or was in the original piece. 5 and 3/4 inches wide on top, 3 inches wide on bottom, approximately 2 inches in height. Appears to be hand-signed.
My stepfather owned this before me and was an avid art glass collector, it has been in our family for approximately 30 years and in my possession for 15 years, details otherwise unknown.
Hi Nicole,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:

signed LC Tiffany / Favrile underneath
2 inches high; 5 inches diameter of rim
PROVENANCE: inherited
$400-600*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
The values Mearto provides are fair-market, for, auction purposes. The standard industry multiplier to convert to an insurance value - which is more in-line with retail pricing - in this case is about $1,000.
If you decide to take this to auction, an auction house that has a specialist in early 20th Century studio glass will know how to market this for maximum result; you should be able to get an auction estimate free of charge from any house and it's worth getting a second or even third opinion as there can be minor regional differences in the various markets, though that playing field has largely been leveled thanks to online auctions that have a global reach.
You can always approach a dealer of this material to see if they will buy it from you directly but it's important to keep in mind that most retailers will try to acquire things for as little as possible so they can retain the maximum on any return they get when they sell it.
Tiffany is a very desirable name and there are ALWAYS collectors for it. It is a small bowl; some collectors will want that, others may prefer to find something a bit larger but the estimate I gave is where these typically sell at auction.
Is there any way to tell what this is worth (retail or asking), how in demand it is right now, or a general known differential between the two (retail vs market value price)? I was hoping by getting it appraised I would get insight into the retail potential.
