Circa 1960s Lubke Dining Room Table with 6 Lubke Dining Room Chairs. Purchased by my late Mother-in-law when they were stationed in Germany. I think she may have had the chairs professionally painted and/or reupholstered because I couldn’t find any pics online of Lubke chairs that look like hers as far as color and padding. However, I did find almost an exact Lubke Dining Room Table online that has the rosewood table with white legs.. The table has not been modified in any way. The pics will show the original MFGR stamps on the bottom of the table. The measurements are: (L x W x H) 33.25” x 49” x 29”. Each leaf is 19” so when the table is fully opened it is 87” wide.
My mother-in-law purchased it new when they were stationed in Germany.
Hi Donna,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The value of the chairs will drop if they've been painted, unfortunately. If you'd like this appraisal to include the dimension of the chairs, please forward at your convenience, the overall height of the back, the height of the seat and the width of the front of the seat (I don't need depth for chairs).
Based on the photographs and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A Midcentury Modern Lubke dining set
circa 1960s,
comprising an expanding dining table and six upholstered slat-back side chairs
table: 29 inches high by 33 1/4 inches wide by 49 inches long, fully extended to 87 inches long
chairs: (dimensions)
Table: $500-800*
Chairs: 300-500*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
It's difficult to say; auction prices for Lubke furniture has not been very strong lately. If you spent, lets say for sake of argument, $400 restoring the chairs (if the table is in original condition I would absolutely recommend leaving it alone), I am not sure you would get $1,200-1,800 for the set. Does that make sense?
Yes that is very helpful thank you.
Thank you. How much would the value change if the table and chairs were restored?
