12 inches tall and 7 inches wide roughly. Sculpted from marble. Wooden base (unknown wood species). China written on bottom of marble and base. 4198815 on bottom of wooden base and back of marble.
My grandparents owned it while my mom was a child. Not sure exactly when it came into the family but guessing it was my great grandfathers. Before leaving it to my grandfather.
Dear Dale,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be a marble sculpture with the measurements of 12 inches tall and 7 inches wide. The sculpture depicts a bust with the iconography of how it is common in Chinese art for example for a Guanyin. This sculpture was made in the late 20th century probably in China for export to the Western World.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 200 to 400 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
Dear Dale,
Thank you for your email. We adapt our estimations to actual and reached auction results of the last years. This process mirrors a comparative value and mirrors and actual market situation. This means also that an object should not just be adapted to the highest hammer prices and you also have to see the mid-range and low range hammer prices to define an adequate estimate.
This decorative piece is a mass-produced sculpture for the export and new pieces are sold under 4.000 USD on the primary market.
With kind regards,
Georg
