Condition of the trumpet based on photographs shows moderate play-wear and lacquer wear, rust and pitting, with at least three dents noted and a duct-tape repair on one of the bends. It includes a Frank Holten & Co. mouthpiece in their Heim model.
The piece is assumed to be in need of repair for the dents, examination for a possible valve overhaul, and replating and relacquering services. Based on recorded sales of comparable trumpets in similar condition in need of restoration, Fair Market Value is estimated at $500 to $1,000 range.
On eBay in January 2020, a 1948 piece in better condition than this with original case sold for $500, and another with multiple small dents circa 1957 sold for approximately $1,100. Online auction prices for quality restored models fetch in the approximately $1,500 to $2,000 range.
