This is an oil painting that was inherited by my great grandmother from a Connecticut estate. The date on the painting looks like it was painted in 1885 or 1883. It looks similar to the portrait: Arab figure with scimitar by Charles Courtney Curran. Someone else thought it might be a Horace Vernet painting, but I am not sure if the dates of the canvas coincide. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.
