What does this mean?

Hi William,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.

The raised back - with that tablet crest over spindles - is somewhat unusual and perhaps a signature design of the as-yet unknown maker, whom I've not found other marked designs by. It's not a well-known design by a familiar maker, and the variation in stain will diminish its value a little bit.

The market is full of Scandinavian midcentury modern furniture and those that are signed, labeled or otherwise documented to specific makers can be relied upon to bring more than unsigned/unattributed pieces.

Related unattributed single chairs of this vintage and condition are currently selling at auction for fair market prices ranging from $500-700.

Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:

A vintage Scandinavian Midcentury Modern teakwood or walnut armchair

The tablet crest raised on through-spindles, with flat arms, frame with diagonal corner braces. With original light blue/green squab cushions. Unsigned.
Height: 28 inches; width: 28 inches; depth: 32 inches
CONDITION: This chair appears to be in good structural condition; some variations to the stain (possibly later?)
