Hi Mark,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This lamp is very much in the style of Marcello Fantoni (1915–2011), a highly respected Italian artist and ceramicist and ironworker known for his unique and bold contributions to Brutalist design. His work often bridges the gap between fine art and functional design, with a focus on raw texture, expressive form, and experimental glazes.
When other similar examples of his lamps have come to auction, they usually sell for between $2,500 and $5,000; while he inspired fewer recreations or copies by other makers there are others by him. I suspect his signature or mark is there somewhere but have appraised this as "in the style of Marcello Fantoni"; if upon closer inspection you can find a mark please let me know and I'll update this ASAP.
