The chair was my Grandparents and was likely purchased in Lowell Massachusetts in the 1960s. I'm not sure of the manufacture as there are no distinct markings. There are limited pictures of similar chairs online. The only similar chairs I've seen are described as being made by Stansberry? The only marking is a green stamp on the bottom board that after close inspection appears to read Jun 25 19??. The tufted green vinyl is in good shape for the age. There is one small crack on the sitting area in a crease and is not obvious upon first inspection. All buttons are intact. The frame is solid wood and has a sunburst accent on the sides. There are some surface blemishes on the wood.

Hi Steven,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Apologies for the delay in getting back to you. The dealer I showed photos to first was skeptical of any attribution to Stansberry or Stansbury so I showed it to two additional MCM furniture specialists; the consensus was that no-one was able (or willing) to make a definitive attribution to a particular maker but all agreed it was a good example of a MCM chair. Everyone thought a fair-market value of $1,000-1,500 was appropriate.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage Midcentury Modern tufted green leather upholstered lounge chair
unattributed maker, probably American, mid 20th Century
The squared continuous rectangular-section tufted upholstery cushion flanked by demi-upholstered arms, on an X-form base with applied oval rosette medallions, terminating in scrolled feet.
39 inches tall , 30 inches long, and 19inches wide
CONDITION: This lounge chair appears to be in very good condition with minor wear commensurate to age and use.
PROVENANCE: Inherited
$1,000-1,500*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, or questions/concerns, and thank you again for using Mearto.

Any updates on the second opinion?
Hi Steven,
I've sent a second email to the person I'd reached out to - hopefully I'll hear by midweek and if not will ask a second person.
Apologies for the delay - it doesn't usually take this long,
Thanks,
Delia
Thank you so much for the update. This is my first time having something appraised so this is all new to me. I just wanted to make sure that you had received my initial answer to your follow up question. I appreciate your extra effort and look forward to learning more.

Steven,
I finished this appraisal a few weeks ago but mistakenly marked it as a "DRAFT" which hid it from everyone but me. I apologize and have now revised it so you can see the finished appraisal. Ultimately, and after I showed photos of this chair to 3 MCM experts, no-one was willing to agree on an attribution to Stansbury/Stansberry but all agreed this was worth $1,000-1,500 at auction. If you are selling this privately, I recommend you ask at least $2,000 for it.
Apologies for mis-marking this earlier, and thank you again for not only your business but the opportunity to more extensively investigate this piece.
