Dear Deborah,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. This is a Meissen "Green Ming Dragon" demitasse set. Each piece is marked with the crossed swords symbol that has been used by the company since 1934 and appears to be in good condition. Meissen is one of the best and oldest producers of hard-paste porcelain in not only Europe but the world. They were the ones who in fact "cracked" the ancient Chinese recipe for making porcelain. The "Ming" pattern is one of the companies oldest patterns, created in 1740 and is still in production today. According to Chinese mythology, the dragon symbolizes not only the spirit of change but also the rhythm of nature and existential wisdom. It represents the sun, the light and the male power of yang. The pattern features a four-toed dragon, which was only used for imperial princes in China. Based on recent price realizations for items similar to yours, the fair market value would be between 500 and 600 US dollars. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Thanks,
Morgan
