30" high modern bronze sculpture, kind of bird-like, it's actually two pieces (top part slides with a metal rod into the lower part), purchased from a reputable La Jolla CA gallery in the early 1980's, can't find a signature or marking, on a marble base. I have a picture I could email.
My parents bought it in the late 70s, early 80s.
Dear Daniel,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. I apologize for the delay in your appraisal. So that I may best assist you, can you please upload a few better images? Additional photos of the object from different views would be very helpful.
Thank you,
Sara
Hello Daniel,
Thank you for the additional photos and examination. The item appears to be a bronze (possibly brass) sculpture in the Modernist or Abstract style. Without an artist attribution, it can be difficult to assign an accurate fair market value. However, the market does have some examples of similar sculptures. Based on the photos and information provided a fair market value estimate for this object would reach about $200 - 500. This estimate is based on recent auction estimates and result of comparable sculptures of abstract bird sculpture, not attributed to a certain artist. Thank you.
Pictures attached...also, I have looked over the object carefully for an artist's signature or a foundry mark but can't find any markings.
