Marble life size
Unknown
Dear Heather,
Thank you for your help and patience.
The presented object appears to be a marble sculpture with the measurements of 13 inches tall and 9 inches wide. The sculpture depicts the head of a woman and just the facial features are carved out of the marble stone. The mouth is slightly opened and the eyes are slightly closed or gaze is lowered. Stylistically this piece was made in the middle or second half of the 20th century. The sculpture is monogrammed with a not clear solvable combination of letters. They could be interpreted as BOT or BID. Sadly no further information regarding the biography of this artist is mentioned in reference books or similar databases. The marble appears to be an Italian fine crystallized marble sort like Carrara.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 150 to 500 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
We have no info for her.
The only thing my father told us is that Mona had to go to an auction that we couldn't just sell her. She has been in the family for about 50+ years.
She is 13 inches tall and 9 inches wide. Very heavy and we have a pedestal for her.
