Antique Recliner - Bottom of chair comes out for legs while top goes backward
?
This is a late 19th century, reclining back, antique chair done in quarter-sawn oak. By definition, the term 'Morris chair' has been applied to any late 19th to early 20th centurt chair with reclining back; however most collectors hone in on 'Morris chairs' in the Mission/Arts & Crafts style. This chair is not quite in the hefty, straight line style of Mission furniture. It is recommended to check the body of the chair for any maker marks, labels or tags. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
