Beautiful painting of tall mountains with a stunning blue sky in the background and a river surrounded by pine trees. Very well executed. The painting draws you in. Despite my efforts, I cannot make out the artist signature. I believe it is oil on canvas in it's original frame.
24x28 outer frame; 16 x 20 at edge of matte
I purchased this and another painting at a sale of a local store owner clearing out their storage units of excess stock. They have a shop where they purchase items from people who bring them in. Like a pawn shop but they buy the items outright, then resell them.
Hi Susan,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Like you, that signature has me puzzled, too. Do the first couple of letters look like "And---" to you? I'll try to run those through the artist auction databases we have access to see if I can find a likely match.
Either way, this is a lovely painting and has a decorative value even if the artist can't be identified...
Thanks to confirm.
Delia
Hi Susan,
I don't know if you saw my earlier message about the signature; in the interest of getting this appraisal completed in a timely manner, I've gone ahead and appraised this based on its simiarlities to other rural mountain landscapes of similar size, approximate age and composition. If you can help me identify the name of the artist, I may be able to refine my value more.
