What does this mean?

Hi Amanda,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. I apologize for the delay in responding - I was traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday and was without power upon my return home.

Collectors are drawn to Murano gilt wine decanters and cup sets for several intertwined reasons: artistry, history, rarity, and the luxurious appeal of gold leaf, which was delicate work requiring skill, precision and experience that could not be mass-produced. Gilt wine decanters and cup sets showcase intricate hand-blown glass, often featuring elaborate shapes, fine stems, twisted handles, or applied decorative elements, namely the use of enamel.

That said, these were made by many if not most Murano studios overall several decades and, because of their popularity with tourists, were widely collected. There is no shortage of these at auction and most unsigned sets of similar size (decanter and 6 glasses) usually bring prices at auction ranging from $150 to $250.

Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:

A vintage Murano gilt and enamel emerald green glass decanter set

A bulbous footed decanter with six cups, none signed.
Decanter: 12 inches tall
Cups: 4 inches tall
