Hello John,
I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal,
Considering the photographs, overall pattern, glass quality and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Blown Murano Vaseline Glass Full dinner Service with Wine and Champagne glasses as well as decorative pieces. The set dates back to the period from 1900-1930 to the early 20th century. Vaseline glass does refer to a glass category characterized by use of uranium on glass pieces creating a colour ranging from a soft yellow to a neon green. The set includes 46-50 pieces in total, composed of a large bowl with double dragon shaped handles, 2 sides piece shaped as dragons that might have intented as napkin holders, 13 champagne glasses, 8 wine glasses, 13 plates and 9 small bowls. Stems of the wine and champagne glasses are coloured less densely and somewhat colourless in comparison to bowls of the glasses. General decoration of the pieces are similar to the works of glass master Antonio Salviati, whom produced pieces till late 19th century. Although this set is considerably more contemporary, might have been produced following his ecole. The large bowl can be seen as a masterpiece itself within the set and is very elegantly designed in the style of the 19th century. The piece is in good condition generally with small signes of use and age, several chips and cracks on a dragon of the large bowl and 2 broken leaves on another side of the dragon.
Entirely hand blown.
Dimensions: 46-50 pieces.
Condition: The piece is in good condition generally with small signes of use and age, several chips and cracks on various 2 or 3 pieces.
Provenance: Inherited from the grand parents of the current owner.
