Large, uniquely shaped glass vase with a pattern throughout the entire vase. It's marked on the bottom "CB Glass" and appears to be in excellent condition - not cracks, dings, or scratches. I think it could be Curtiss Brock.
Approximately 7" W x 14" H and weighs over 4 pounds.
Hi Suzanne,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This vase is very similar to another vase also signed "CB Glass" and attributed to Curt(iss) Brock, that sold for just $40 against a $200-300 estimate in 2019 (https://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/free-form-art-glass-vase-signed-cb-glass-201-c-7ec4126afe).
Curtiss Brock is a contemporary American glass artist known for blending traditional glassblowing techniques with deeply conceptual, sculptural forms. What makes him particularly interesting and unusual is how he pushes the boundaries of what glass art can express—not just visually, but philosophically and emotionally. Born in 1961, he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Goddard College and an MFA in Sculpture from the University of Illinois, Champaign. Since 1989 (some sources say 1994, but Tennessee Tech records confirm 1989), he has led the glass program at Tennessee Technological University, located at the Appalachian Center for Craft in Cookeville, Tennessee and he teaches and lectures widely in the U.S. and Japan, including institutions like Pilchuck Glass School and Penland School of Craft in Asheville, N.C.
"CB Glass" is his Studio alias, seen on his hand-crafted limited production pieces. While I can find a few examples of these pieces that have been listed online for a few hundred dollars, I can't find any examples of his pieces selling for more than $100 at auction
