My Mother
This painting was done of my mother at age 16. It was done in Miami Florida. Somewhere between 1946 and 1948, as close as I can figure. The painting is haunting and it just may be. I just added a picture of my mother standing beside the painting. I have another picture of my dad and mother standing by the painting. a much better one in fact if that makes any difference.
My mother died and left it to me.

It is was is referred to as a commissioned portrait painting and depicts a known sitter, a young woman of 16 in traditional hairstyle of the era in a blue dress. This is a bust length portrait. The artist Mary Taylor Reed is listed as being active in Massachusetts in the 20th century. Her work does not have a record of auction sales at substantial houses. There is clearly more personal value to you that cannot be quantified into a dollar amount. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
The painting is about 19X16" frame not included.
