Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The item appraised is an antique baby doll face, made of a type of cast clay or metal, based on the weight. The face has a loop on the reverse, where it would have connected to the rest of the head, which would have been some type of fabric. This item is a bit of a mystery, but it was likely painted at the time of production and has since come to resemble something completely foreign, due to the lack of polychrome. I do not believe it to be Native American, but more likely an American doll produced by a toy company in the late 19th-early 20th century. While rare, that doesn't necessarily equate with something being valuable. I would try and sell it on Ebay, if you are looking to part with it. A doll collector will pay what it's worth and they are typically more active on Ebay than at auction.
Kind regards,
Corey
I don’t have anymore information, except my mother who was an antique dealer had it about 15 years before she passed. I have been told several times that this is rare but no clue to what it is. Any help I would appreciate! Thank you!
