Neoclassic chair
Purchased from a person selling his grandmother's items.
This is an antique later 19th century, Victorian era, mahogany armchair with deep coil spring upholstered seat and back topped with a carved double arched crest rail with down-sweeping s-curve arms with deep railing sides over cabriole front legs. This is more of a Victorian style chair than Neo-Classical Revival. The Victorian furniture market is currently slumped. Pieces, even the original period pieces, do not sell for what they used to sell for a few decades ago. The market was further impacted by the Recession. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
Please add well-lit, in-focus images of the underside of the chair to show the hardware used and the joinery of the legs to the seat frame.
