What does this mean?

Dear Juliette,

Greetings and thank you for calling upon the experts at Mearto. You are the owner of a painted print after the original oil painting by Jacopo Tintoretto (1518/1519βˆ’1594) which is in the Frick collection. Your image was made by layering thick, clear, likely acrylic paint over the print to mimic brushstrokes.

The paperwork on the back of the image lists this as No. 38 and also refers to Aretino by Titian No. 35. If the paper is original to the print, as it likely is, this comes from a book, perhaps of Italian 16th century painters. The book was likely printed circa 1950 - 1960.

At auction, prints by Tintoretto, of this size and with this treatment average between $10USD and $20USD.

If you have any additional questions, please let me know and thank you for submitting to Mearto.

Sincerely,

Erin-Marie
