Hello Renee,
I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal,
Considering the photographs, overall pattern, mark and the colours, I concluded that this is a Japanese Noritake Snack Set Consist of 17 Pieces. Dating back to 1953-1972 period. As many of the post 1950 pieces, this set of yours has a simple and minimal design. With a single decorational motif or style used on pieces. Your piece was referred as a "Bessie" model. "Bessie" was one of the most famous and known export piece pattern of Noritake Porcelain. They were highly demanded by Americans in the mid-century due to it's simplistic and modern design. These sets were very popular as wedding gifts at the time.
The mark underneath your piece was registered in 1953, and the lettern "N" underneath the piece is for "Nippon Toki". Nippon is the name given to Japan in Japanese language. The letter is crowned by a classical looking leaf crown. The Noritake writing above the crown is in hand writing style and specific to this mark. The decoration nd the floral motifs are all printed, we can not observe any enhancements by hand or any hand painted parts. The hand painting technique was used in earlier pieces mostly. The set appears to be in mint condition, the existence of the original box adds up a lot to it's collectable value.
