White china, with hand painted flowers in dark/light blue; gold trim detail. Base and lid in excellent condition.Approximately 6 inches diameter.
Has been handed down in family. No other pieces available. Curious as to value and pattern.
Hi Katherine,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
It's very tricky to identify early pattern names as those records - if they were kept at all - were destroyed during WWII (after which, many patterns were identified by name next to the backstamp).
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage Noritake parcel gilt and cobalt decorated covered two handled sugar bowl
unattributed pattern, made in Japan, bearing the backstamp in use from 1921-1940
Of circular form with domed cover with single loop handle, the white body with cream, cornflower and cobalt decoration highlighted with gilt accents in swags, oval medallions and rosettes, the body with two parcel gilt loop handles to the sides, marked underneath
6 inches diameter (excluding handles)
CONDITION: appears to be in good condition
PROVENANCE: inherited
$100-150*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, and thank you again for using Mearto.
I should also mention that the pattern around the bowl is duplicated on the other side.
Thanks, Katherine, you're all set.
The diameter measured is just the body of the piece.
