Hello Ralph,
I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal,
Considering the photographs, overall pattern, mark and the colours, I concluded that this is a Hand Painted Japanese Noritake Porcelain Dinner Service, dating back to the period between 1921-1940. This mark underneath your piece was registered in 1918 and used starting from 1921. The mark was last used in 1941. After this period, company mostly decorated their items with printing rather than hand applied paint. Your dinner service's decoration pattern is entirely floral and composed of baskets of flowers. A very pale lemon colour was used on the piece alongside gilt decoration on the rim. Decoration is mostly applied by hand and transferred to the porcelain in some cases. A very elegant and charming set, has a collectable value alongside it's decorative value. The piece has a total of 82 pieces, an accurate number for a dinner service of the time. In good condition without any visible faults. The service includes: 12 dinner plates, 8 salad plates, 10 dessert plates, 11 bread plates, 11 dessert bowls, 10 cups, 15 saucers, 1 large round serving plate, 1 large oval serving plate, 1 relish dish, 1 small serving plate, 1 small serving bowl.
