Description

Full table service for 10, plus 3 platters of different sizes, two serving bowls, gravy boat, creamer, sugar bowl. Marked with "Made in Nippon" with M in a wreath.

Provenance

My great-aunt was born in 1895 and married in 1920. I assume she got the china set for her marriage in 1920. She lived in Queens, NY and northern New Jersey for most of her life.

unattributed pattern (white with simple gold or silver rim banding), made in Japan, bearing the Morimura "M" mark in use from 1911-1921, comprising:
10 dinner plates
10 luncheon plates
10 salad/dessert plates
10 soup plates
10 fruit plates
10 cups with 10 saucers
3 graduated platters
2 serving bowls
1 gravy boat
1 cream pitcher
1 sugar bowl (lacking lid)
1 butter dish
CONDITION: value assumes this set is in good "slightly used" condition with no breaks, cracks, repairs or losses.

I have more details about the numbers in the set. It was originally 12 table settings, but there are now 10 of everything in good "slightly used" condition. I can't find the creamer right now. I've found 2 covered serving bowls, 1 open serving bowl, 1 small serving dish, 1 butter keeper, 1 gravy boat, 1 sugar bowl without a top, 3 graduated platters. I've added a photo showing the entire set.

Thanks, Nancy. I've added the butter dish in - that seemed to be the only piece I hadn't included previously, and noted that the sugar bowl lacks its lid (cover). If this still needs fixing, let me know what to change.
