This set of china belonged to my Grandmother. She passed several years ago and we have never used it. This set is complete and in excellent condition except as noted. The 10X14 serving dish has a couple of chips. 1 fairly large. The serving plate was evidently replaced with a 14X16 Noritake Alvin pattern. One of the cups is missing and was evidently broken and replaced with a similar pattern. That cup and saucer is Noritake Bellvoir pattern. The set includes the 2 serving plates, 2 serving bowls, 8 10” dinner plates, 8 bowls, 8 small plates, 8 small bowls, 8 cups, 9 saucers, sugar bowl and creamer.
Hi Eric,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Noritake was one of the most popular names for dinnerware in the mid 20th Century; not only was it handsome and serviceable but it was also comparatively affordable. Increasingly few people today, however, entertain in such a formal way and the market is saturated with services of varying sizes, colors, etc. Because there is less demand than supply, fair-market / auction prices for Noritake remain low, typically bringing an average of $4-6 PER PIECE.
It was not uncommon for owners to replace broken pieces with ones from other patterns if they could not acquire replacements in the original pattern, and a few random pieces don't typically affect the value in the same way larger groups of mismatched patterns would.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage 54-piece Noritake parcel gilt porcelain part dinner service for 8
made in Japan, largely in the Mimi pattern, with the Morimura "M" date stamp in use during the 1920s and 1930s, comprising:

1 cream pitcher

and
