Pattern 439 Etna 6 x dinner plates 6 x entree plates 6 x bread and butter plates 6 x soup/dessert bowls 6 x saucers 6 x cups 1 x salt and pepper shakers 1 x sugar bowl with lid 1 x milk jug All in perfect condition with no chips, cracks or crazing.

Provenance

This dinner set was given to us as a wedding gift in 1975. It was purchased brand new from a department store in Brisbane, QLD, Australia. I think the store was Myer Department Store. It has been used rarely on special occasions. It has never been exhibited.

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This is a nice, albeit small, Noritake Royal Crockery (RC) set in the Etna pattern, #439. Generally, Noritake china is currently bringing $1-4 per piece, with larger sets averaging more per/piece. It also is not bringing as much money as it used to; the market for this began to fall in 2008 when Noritake could reasonably be expected to bring $5-10 per piece.
The mark was used as early as 1911 but was made through the 20th Century. Sets this small do not bring much on the auction market (the values Mearto gives are for auction, rather than retail resale, which would be higher). I have not been able to find any recent auction sales of this particular pattern but here are recent auction sales of Noritake RC china:
