Dear Linda,
Thank you for your contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The item presented appears to be an oil painting, possibly from the mid to the end of the 19th century executed by an American painter. It is unsigned, and it measures 12 1/2 " (h) x 17 3/4" (w). It depicts a pastoral scene with cows in a river. It is housed in a beautiful carved frame, and the condition appears to be good overall.
The estimate provided is based on recent auction estimates and results of similar American paintings without artist attribution, dating from the 1850s to the 1900s. The current condition (based on photographs provided) has been taken into consideration when determining the estimate.
Best regards,
Karine
