This sword is36 inches long. Heavy, ornate handle. A lion head handle in brass it looks like. The blade is with beautiful etchings about 16 inches from tip to the handle on both sides. Also on the un sharpened top of the sword. The sheath is approximately 31 inches long. It has two rings on it.
I own it.
Dear Nancy,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. So that I may best assist you, can you please clarify which sword should be appraised and attach the hallmarks on the end of the blade to the handle?
With kind regards,
Georg
Dear Nancy,
Take your time. Please send detail images of these hallmarks which are important to identify the maker and help to date the sword. Thank you for your help and understanding.
With kind regards,
Georg
Hope this helps Georg.
Dear Nancy,
The presented object appears to be an Imperial German Officer's "lions head "saber. It was made for a member of the artillery because of the crossed cannons on the handle. This sword was produced in high numbers and this piece dates probably at the beginning of the 19th century shortly before the WWI.
An estimation would be between 150 to 300 USD.
This estimation is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
Dear Nancy,
It dates of course in the early 20th century.
With kind regards,
Georg
Thanks Georg. So far I have been unable to print out any of my sword submissions. Four total. Who can help me with that? Many thanks for your appraisals.
Dear Nancy,
Please try again and if you still have problems please contact me.
With kind regards,
Georg
Hello Georg. I actually had 2 swords and one Katana. Three total. I will take pictures again and keep them separate from each other. Klaus is evaluating the Katana. Please give me a week as I am now out of town..
