This is a vintage, later 20th century, original oil on canvas painting of a tree in a landscape that is done in a post-impressionist painterly style by self-promoting Texas artist, Barbara Sutton. As found on the site fineartamerica.com, Barbara Sutton bio describes: "On a farm in the Hamby community near Abilene, Texas, Barbara grew up with either a paint brush or a softball glove in her hand. With the help of an American Watercolor Society scholarship, she received a degree in art education at McMurry University in Abilene. She taught in the public schools for twenty-four years before retiring to a full-time commitment to her art. Her loving husband Ron is a great encourager of her arts, and her entire family provides many subjects for her paintings. She also paints from photos that she has taken while traveling. Her goal is to light up faces as they view her works. She works primarily in oil and watercolor but also enjoys pastels for portraits. She has studied in workshops under well known artists like Betty Carr, George Hallmark, James Spurlock, Judi Betts and Cecy Turner. She is a member of Lake Granbury Art Association and Pecan Plantation Art Guild.".Works purcahsed direct from her site average about $225. It is important to note that direct from artist or primary gallery sales are usually the highest retail price and that the vast majority of works usually do not retain or gain in value after the initial purchase. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
Please add a clear, in-focus image of the signature and the surface to show the texture as well as a view of the backside (do not remove from frame).
