Hello, this item is a painting created in the style of S. H. Raza, depicting an expressionistic village scene with spired buildings and crosses set against a fiery red and orange background. The composition attempts to echo Raza’s early landscapes from the 1940s and 1950s, especially those influenced by his time in France, but the brushwork, palette control, and structural rhythm do not align with authenticated examples from 1956. Raza’s works from this year show tighter spatial organization, more disciplined use of color modulations, and a gestural vocabulary that this piece does not replicate. The signature “RAZA 56” is not consistent with signatures recorded in verified auction results at Saffronart, Pundole’s, or Christie’s.
Given the absence of provenance, the lack of a COA, and the substantial stylistic deviation from the artist’s established oeuvre, this work should not be treated as an original by S. H. Raza.
