Old northern afghan rug
I purchased this rug in eastern Afghanistan. I was told it's from a northern province and is about 70-80 years old. There are many imperfections in the rug, and it looks like it's been repaired. The measurements are 4'10" by 4'. One side is only 3'10" instead of a full 4'. It has a shorter fringe than the ones I'm used to seeing, but that could be due to many different things and I'm no expert. It's a thread base with wool knotted pile. I'm not sure if the base is cotton or wool. It feels somewhat rough.
I purchased it from a bazaar in eastern Afghanistan in a small military post. I am currently in Afghanistan and cannot receive phone calls. Email is better for contacting me.

It is handwoven out of naturally dyed wool and is in good to fair condition based on its age. The design on the rug is full of symbols for protection and strength. In the center field is found the Ram's Head (power and strength), Dragons (power and strength), Cengel or hook ( ward off the evil eye), and dogs (protection, trust, and defense). The borders of the rug contain flowers, which symbolize a time of new beginnings, rebirth, and fertility, as well as what might be an Im or family sign. This rug was most likely not made for export but was a part of a dowery. Based on recent price realization for items that are similar to yours, a fair market value estimate would be between 400 and 700 US dollars.
