Pair of matching boudoir or slipper chairs, nails used look like hand wrought nails, theres what appears to be mixed curled hair, some of the hair is light and flexible like human, and the others are short black and coarse, we think horse and hog hair? And cotton filling. Burlap sack, one bottom is open on one chair and the other is intact and undamaged. Their also single springs. Both are low to the ground.
From my great grandma, I believe she got the pair from her mother
Dear Whitney,
Thank you for your request. This or two matching boudoir or slipper chairs. They are upholstered with a brownish fabric and mainly in a good condition. The shape of this boudoir chairs is developed in the late 19th century and these early chairs are mostly upholstered with leather but this type was produced during the 20th century also. The fabric is a hint that these chairs were made in the 1950s or 1960s.
An estimate would be between 200 to 600 USD.
This estimation is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
With best regards,
Georg
Do you have any information on the iron nails or the structure? From my research the nails date back to before 18th century, and that wire nails were used from 1890 to present. Thank you for the quick response for the appraisal, I know it was reupholestred in the 50's/60's by my great grandma but I have no information on the structure of the chair.
