I really do not know much about this plate as it was purchased at a high-end estate sale. I was told the plate is French and very old, but I don't know anything else about it. On the back there are only two markings: one appears to be a tiny "z" or "N" painted in a dark rusty red color. The other other is an engraved (indented) number which I believe is 25. The diameter of the plate is approximately 8.75".
I know very little...only that I bought it at a high-end estate sale.
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a slip cast reticulated plate, decorated with a most likely cast and not slip decorated and gilt design of branches and flowers in the Japonism style of the 1880s. The Tariff Act of 1890, commonly called the McKinley Tariff demanded that imported goods should bear the name of the country of origin in legible english. The plate in your possession can therefore be dated to the period of 1880-1890. A number of porcelain manufacturers in Germany, Austria and France produced similar, the impressed marks are just mold or size numbers, the "N" possibly the sign of the painter or gilder. The estimate is based on similar items by lesser known manufacturers actually sold at auction. There is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the item.
