I acquired to artworks that appear to have been made by MF Husain. One of the works has a COA. I would like your help in authenticating these artworks.
22 x 30 inches
Hello, this item is a work in the style of Maqbool Fida Husain showing his iconic running horses. The piece uses heavy black contour lines, flat chromatic fields, and a rhythmic composition that imitates Husain’s well known vocabulary. The signature at the top left copies the artist’s characteristic placement, but the handling of the brushwork, the anatomy of the animals, and the color transitions differ from authenticated Husain watercolors and gouaches. The COA shown appears generic and does not correspond to any of the recognized bodies that certify Husain’s work. These elements point clearly to a contemporary imitation rather than an original artwork by MF Husain.
You can expect this piece to carry a decorative value of 100 to 200 USD. Husain’s authentic works on paper reach high four figures to six figures at auction depending on date and subject, but the market separates fakes and studio style copies sharply. You can present it as an artwork in the manner of MF Husain and sell it as decorative modern art. It does not hold investment or collector value connected to the artist’s market.
