pair of 1950s murano glass sky blue with silver teardrops throughout lamps. Approx. 14.5 inches high from round wooden base to top of glass lamp. Original finials and lamp. shades missing. Overall both lamps in excellent condition. Both work!
I only know that the person who owned it was one of the wealthiest people on the east coast.
Hello Suzanne,
I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal,
Considering the photographs, overall pattern, glass work and the technique, I concluded that this is a Pair Of Entirely Hand Blown Murano Glass Turquoise Lamps, the pair dates back to the period between 1950-1965. This colour tone of Turquoise was very favoured by the consumers of the high-end interior decoration back in the mid 20th century. The bases of the glass bodies were also flower shaped Murano glass but colourless. The wooden base of the both piece also serves the electrical extensions of the pieces. The shapes of the glass bodies are typical and has a lobed courgette style design. Both pieces also have golden particuls, sprinkles inside the glass body. This was a classical decoration famous and heavily used from the mid-century. Also the metal, likely brass finials of the pieces are original. The plug as well as the electric cables confirm the period and typical to 1950's. The pair is in good condition without any visible faults.
