Ceramic vases with French scenes
Belonged to my grandmother, who was born in 1900. They have been in the family since 1950s , maybe longer. I don’t know where she got them
This is a pair of antique turn of the 19th/20th century Sevres-style porcelain and champleve urns. The pair each with a dark pink glaze with hand painted cartouches to either side of courting couples and bucolic landscapes that were executed and signed by a studio ceramic decorator, George Rochette, gilt metal mounts adorned with polychrome champlevé decorations and raised on canted cream onyx or banded agate bases. These were likely produced in France, however, these are usually catalogued as 'Continental'. The estimate is for the pair together and is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
They are just under 13” tall signed by George Rochette. They have been in the family for 60 years or more
3 new inages added as requested.
How tall are these? Also, please add a close up of the signature on each and what appears to be enamel inlay in the metal at the top.
