Thank you for submitting images of your family's lovely pair of vases. These are British and were made by Sherlock, Smith & Co., of Longton, England who was producing ceramic wares in the early 20th century. They are made in the style of French 18th century Rococo style but actually made c. 1900.

The impressed 'MONARCH' on the base likely refers to the shape of the moulds which are rather decorative and complex. It is made from a fine, white stoneware clay which is white, but not porcelain. The roses appear to be transfer-ware prints with hand-painted details or they may be fully hand-painted, I would need a closer image to be able to tell you with certainty and the gilding is applied by hand.

Assuming these are hand-painted and free of chips, cracks and restorations they are comparable to similar pairs which have sold at auction for between $100AUD - $200USD. Thank you for your submission and if you have any follow-up questions, I am available.
