TITLE:
Gent’s, Art Deco, 18k yellow gold and red/black enameled, pendant wound and set, keyless, open face pocket watch, S/N 803.146, Case no. 409.007, made by Patek Philippe, Geneva, Switzerland, circa 1924.
DESCRIPTION:
CASE – This is a three leaf, polished 18k yellow gold, open face pocket watch in an Art Deco designed case with a gold fluted suppressed ball pendant and shaped embossed gold bow placed at the twelve position, polished back cover (not shown) with the case border being 18k solid gold chased in a foliate pattern along with black and red enameling. The interior of the back cover reveals the 18k gold mark with the Swiss gold hallmark for same, i.e. Helvetia in profile. Case number is 409007. . .
DIAL – Gilt metallic dial with enameled stylized Arabic hours, closed bar minute track to the outside, sunken subsidiary seconds dial @6, steel Antique Breguet hands and the upper dial signed, “Patek Philippe & Cie, Geneva, Switzerland”. . .
MOVEMENT – This is a nickel half plate and curved finger bridge movement, 17’’’ size,
The plates are linear damascene decorated, 18 jewels, calibrated straight line lever escapement, cut-bimetallic compensation balance with gold adjustment screws, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, gilt engraved, “18 jewels, 8 adjustments, no. 803146, Patek Philippe & Co., Geneva, Switzerland”. . .
CONDITION: Case – Modest scratches to the interior of the cover while the back of case is not shown. Handsome gold chased edge case. Dial – Some patchy darkening of the left three quarters of the dial, likely from oxidation, will bring down the final price a bit. Movement – Excellent, genuine, original and functional. Overall in very good condition. .
