Hello Rochelle,
I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal,
Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Persian Kerman Rug. The piece dates back to the period from 1980 to 1990. The piece was centrally decorated with a central medallion in circular outline. Usually, Kerman pieces have more vertically stretched central medallions with large scale lanterns hanging from both sides. The piece appears to be more contemporary in design than traditional. The piece is very heavily decorated with floral motifs on a dark blue central base as well as it's borders. There are light blue highlights and small use of light blue colour on the central medallion. The piece was knotted wool on cotton. The piece's knot density appears to be very high and therefore the precision on the motifs is high, they were rendered clearly. The outer central are is decorated on a beige colour with an amorphic circular outline. This outline was referred as "Unusual Lachaques" in a previous appraisal of the piece. The piece appears to be in good condition without any significant problems.
