Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Oriental Rug, probably made in India or Pakistan. Dating back to the period between 1960-1980. In early 20th century Pakistan and India established their own weaving ateliers to imitate Oriental Rugs from Persia or Turkey and to offer a cheaper alternative which was appreciated by the market. These pieces usually depicted a specific type of rug, for example Persian Tabriz pieces reproduced in India or Pakistan were named as Indo-Tabriz pieces and were marketed as such. Mostly starting from the 1960's the production's style shifted to a mixture of specific types and aim to produced heavily decorated pieces as possible to attract customers from the Western market. Your piece was a piece from this category, in it'S design we can not tell whether it is specific type or not but it is rather a heavily decorated Indo interpretation of mostly Persian motifs. Your piece was centrally decorated as you can easily detect the central medallion on the pattern. The central decoration was entirely floral as well as the rest of the pattern. In the corner decorations of the central area, the weavers used an impressive pale tone of Turquoise as well as the central medallion's interior. The center is mostly composed of Ivory and Burgundy colours. The pattern used on this piece was very symmetrical. The border was very elegantly styled and divided to five different smaller borders, one large and four smaller ones. Your pieces knot density appears to be average for the period and the motifs are rendered close to clear but still slightly muddy in comparison to pieces with higher knot densities. This piece was not knotted by using silk but rather was knotted wool on cotton. This means the pile is wool while the foundations is cotton. In good condition with some signes of use in fringes.
