I have been told it is a silk persian rug, (but I don't know for sure) its size is 230cm length x 168cm width. I inherited it off my uncle and it is at least 30 years old as I remember him having in his London flat as a child.
My Uncle owned it before me, I think he would of purchased it in the country of origin as he used to have a lot of antiques and items from his travels around the world.
Dear Thomas,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. Your rug is handwoven out of silk and was made in the second half of the 20th century and is in good condition. The filed appears to be decorated with a repeating Lotus and Cross design, which symbolize Rebirth and Faith. The design of your rug is based on the Persian Tribal tradition resembling a Baluch style. Based on recent price realizations for rugs similar in style, size, and color pallet, a fair market value estimate would be between 500 and 2,500 US dollars. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you,
Morgan
