Hello Johs,
I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal,
Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Kotted Persian Tabriz Rug. This piece likely dates back to the period from 1970-1990. The piece is heavily decorated with floral patterns. The piece likely comes from the city of Tabriz which is one of the most reknowned cities for weaving throughout centuries. This piece's decoration is quite very detailed with an over average quality. The piece was not centrally decorated, therefore does not have a central medallion. Instead the piece's central decoration was filled with duplicated floral patterns. The central decoration's base colour was dark blue while for the borders' base colour white was chosen. Flower types used on the piece was specifically chosen and we can clearly spot a density of "Rose" motifs. Which was a representation of beauty in the Persian Culture. The knot density of the piece is very high, quite over the average. Therefore the motifs were rendered in an incredibly high precision. The piece was knotted wool on cotton. Knotted by using the asymmetrical Persian Knots. It is a high-end piece with a very distinguished decorative and commercial value. The piece is in good condition without any visible problems.
