Beautiful 18' x 3' (actual measurements: add 1/2" to length and 1-1/2" to width). I think it is Persian, but imagine the appraiser will know for sure. I hope the appraiser can give an opinion of age, pattern, origin and the like. Hand made and/or hand tied. Excellent condition, without tears, holes, stains or odors. No manufacturer's tag on the carpet.
Purchased at an estate auction.
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be an Indo-Persian soumak style rug. The rug features an all over palmette and floral design, in a palette of brick red, ochre, beige, light olive green and blue. The pleasant subdued colours give the impression as if the rug has some age, but I assume this is not the case here, rather last quarter 20th century. The estimate is based on similar rugs sold at auction in recent years."Asking prices" in the trade can be much higher and vary.
