Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
You have a lovely example of an antique stove, circa 1905. The stove has repousse silvered metal doors and a black enamel body. The whole is raised on an ornate skirt with squat cabriole legs and topped with a pierced scrolling crest. The backsplash is comprised of white tile with a single pink rose and foliage to each. There is some expected crazing to the tiles which is commensurate with age.
The stove is a Belanger and was produced in Canada. Belanger was a fairly prolific manufacturer, but even so, few by the maker have appeared at auction. This sort of item has to find the right buyer and be presented at a well advertised auction. The size makes it a bit prohibitive for online sales and shipping, so the potential buyer field is diminished a bit. My estimate reflects these factors, but with the right buyer, the stove could surpass the estimate. This is a fair market, auction value, which is usually 1/4 to 1/5 of a retail price. An antique dealer, or "retail", can price an item at whatever price they like.
