Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a late 19th century half pint pewter tankard with the internal pot touch "Crowned H" for quality pewter which said that weights and measures were checked against standards and therefore marked with a crowned H. The numbers, in this case the "8", have been a mystery among pewter collectors, one suggestion was that the number identified the pewterer within the production team of the James Yates family of pewterers. The font of the "X" and "1/2 pint" is very modern, I would therefore suggest a production date in the late 19th century or even early 20th century. Unfortunately the sentimental value to you will be much higher than the current market value.
The estimate is based on recent auction results.
