Hi Jonathan,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
I've looked through all of my pottery marks books and online marks databases and can't find this mark (S with an arrow through it) so I have to assume it's from a potter who had such a small production / live that there's no information about them.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A painted and saltglazed redware pitcher
possibly European, early 20th Century
Of circular section and flaring conical form with pulled lip and single loop handle, the bottom marked with an S with an arrow through it, 445/ A. The body decorated with a recumbent figure on one side, floral decoration on the other, between stylized geometric and floral banding.
7 inches high by 7 inches diameter
CONDITION: This pitcher appears to be in good condition; value assumes no chips, breaks, repairs or damage.
PROVENANCE: Acquired at auction
$ 75-125*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, or questions/concerns, and thank you again for using Mearto.
