I’ll be honest I don’t know that much about rugs at all, but I’m told this one is valuable. I don’t know who made it. What I can see is in good condition. I don’t know what it’s made of and I don’t know how to tell. On the corners on the back of the rug is like a strip of rubber that’s sewn on. It looks like there may have been like a label of some sorts glued on at one time, but I don’t know for sure. If there’s any thing that you need specifically like a better picture or something or a different type of picture, please let me know and I’m sorry I can’t provide more information.

Hi Rebecca,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Tabriz carpets are among the most important and influential Persian carpets, with a long history and some distinctive features that set them apart. They were made in Tabriz, one of the oldest carpet-weaving centers in northwest Iran (Azerbaijan region). Weaving there dates back centuries, but Tabriz rose to prominence under the Safavid dynasty (16th c.), when it was a royal court center.
Tabriz carpets come in a wide range of patterns: medallion-and-corner, floral allovers, hunting scenes, pictorial rugs, and prayer designs. They are famous for detailed and intricate drawing—very fine outlines compared to more rustic tribal rugs - and often use curvilinear (floral) motifs, sometimes borrowing European influences during the 19th–20th centuries. Many showcase a central medallion with elaborate cornerpieces and balanced symmetry.
This is *probably* made of silk, though they could also have been made with sheep or goat wool (rugs in flatter, more desert-like countries also used camel hair). Others of this size that have sold at auction have brought prices ranging from $500-800, though it's important to note that rug dealers will usually ask much higher retail prices.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
