Ceramic? Pitcher with bluish and brown and cream colors, flowers/design. Says majolika. Schramberg Dek Persia etc on bottom of both pieces
Base/plate 7”x7”. Pitcher 9”x9”
Hi Susan,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Schramberg Majolika “SMF Dek. Persia” is a collectible line of German art pottery. It was produced by Schramberger Majolika Fabrik (often abbreviated SMF) in Schramberg, Germany.
The “SMF” mark confirms the factory; “Majolika” refers to its tin-glaze or brightly glazed earthenware tradition. "Dek" means "Dekor", or "decoration or pattern" while "Persia" indicates the pattern.
This pitcher and underplate were made as part of a broader movement in European ceramics blending Art Nouveau/Jugendstil with exotic revival styles.
Based on what other pitcher and underplate sets by SMF have sold for recently when offered at auction, this group would be likely to sell for between $300 and $500.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage Schramberg Majolika pitcher and underplate sest
in the Persian pattern, made in Germany, early/mid 20th Century
tin-glazed earthenware with floral decoration, each marked to the underside.
Plate: 7 x 7 inches
Pitcher: 9 x 9 inches
